Tammy Kohilppel Bendele

Dr. Tammy Bendele is the Program Coordinator for the West Texas Urban Forestry Council. She began working for WTUFC in January 2003 following a career in teaching, lecturing, and program coordination.   Dr. Bendele directs the El Paso UFC, coordinates volunteers and local groups, designs the quarterly newsletter, and educates the public about forestry.

Dr. Bendele has over five years of program coordinating and fundraising experience and five years of teaching and lecturing experience.   She has published numerous articles on horticulture and has made both national and regional presentations on the subject.   She has also helped develop horticultural courses for undergraduates and designed a website on gardening for children.

Dr. Bendele received her Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Science. She specialized in the motivation and constraints of gardeners and the societal implications of public gardens.   During her studies, she received many prestigious awards including Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Achievement at the University of Florida and both the Muriel Rumsey and Jim Congdon Scholarships at the University of Florida.
