Emsud Horozovic
Emsud Horozovic is Round Rock, Texas' designated tree hugger. Actually, he is the City of Round Rock's Forestry Manager. Hired as the city's sole forestry employee four years ago, Emsud now has a staff of 10, including a additional Forester. He has recently overseen the development of a comprehensive Tree Preservation and Protection Ordinance, and developed a Tree Technical Manual suitable for this fast growing town. The City's Brush Recycling program was recognized through a government project award at this year's ISA/TUFC conference in Round Rock. He was also presented a lifetime achievement award by the same organizations in 2000 for his efforts on Oak Wilt identification and prevention in Austin. He currently serves on the Texas Technical Oak Wilt Advisory Board with TFS. Prior to working for Round Rock, he served as a Forester at the City of Austin for six years. He moved to Austin from Zagreb, where he worked as an Engineer in Woodworking Machinery Factory. He received his BS in Forestry Engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia in 1989.
Emsud is native of Bosnia and Herzegovina and can make a bad joke on several different languages. He also enjoys hunting, reading, listening to music, his back porch, shopping, and his many, many friends and family members. He also enjoys working with For the Love of Christi, a grief counseling organization located in Austin. |
