Jeff Lester
Jeff was raised in Jacksonville, TX. He received his Bachelor of Science in Forestry with an emphasis in Forest Management in 1999 from Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduating, he went to work as a Management Forester for Louisiana-Pacific Corp. in Woodville, TX where he shared the responsibility of managing 120,000 acres of corporate forest land.
Jeff left his job with LP in 2003 to become the first Urban Forester for Huntsville where he is learning the differences between government and corporate worlds. Jeff has been working on getting a tree ordinance and new landscape ordinance passed. His biggest project is the reforestation of the I-45 corridor through Huntsville, over 4,000 trees have been planted in the past 2 years. He is involved in the local Keep Texas Beautiful affiliate and the Huntsville Beautification Advisory Committee. Once the new ordinances are passed, he will be active on the planning and zoning committee.
>With his background in forest management, Jeff hopes to bring a holistic approach to managing Huntsville's natural resources. |
